PARIS — An intercity bus whose passengers included children on their option to faculty crashed on Friday morning in japanese France, killing one minor and one younger grownup, French authorities mentioned.
The Prefecture within the Ain area mentioned one minor and one younger grownup had been killed, whereas 16 individuals had been injured, together with three critically.
Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot mentioned on X that he was heading to the location following “a severe bus accident” close to the small city of Lent, in a rural space north-east of Lyon.
“An accident involving an intercity bus occurred close to Lent, France, with a number of casualties reported,” the prefecture mentioned in an announcement. Emergency companies and regulation enforcement officers have been deployed to the scene, it mentioned.
Information broadcaster BFM TV reported that the passengers included youngsters touring to center and excessive faculties within the space. A photograph from the scene confirmed the bus had veered off the highway and landed in a ditch.
“It’s at all times a troublesome second when our college students, our youngsters, are victims of an accident like this. My ideas, and people of the federal government and your complete schooling neighborhood, are with the households,” Schooling Minister Édouard Geffray informed reporters on the sidelines of a go to to a highschool within the Paris area.
