    An earthquake of 4.1 preliminary magnitude has been reported in Tennessee and was felt in Atlanta, Georgia, and western North Carolina

    ATLANTA — An earthquake of 4.1 preliminary magnitude was reported Saturday morning in Tennessee and was felt in Atlanta, western North Carolina and elsewhere, in response to the U.S. Geological Survey and native information stories.

    The web site for USGS stated the earthquake originated shortly after 9 a.m. EDT about 12 miles (20 kilometers) from Buck, Tennessee, which is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Knoxville.

    Meteorologists at tv information stations serving Georgia and North Carolina reported feeling the tremors as properly.

    Gabriela Reilly was making waffles together with her husband after they felt their complete dwelling shake in Braselton, Georgia, which is northeast of Atlanta.

    “Our ceiling fan began shaking for about 10 seconds,” she stated. “I believed a large plane had flown low proper over the neighborhood, however my husband stated, ‘No, that was undoubtedly an earthquake!’”

    Two tremors struck in December 2018. One was a 4.4 magnitude earthquake that was centered in Decatur, Tennessee, which is south of Knoxville. It shook houses as distant as Atlanta.

    One other earthquake struck a number of days later with a magnitude of three.0. Its epicenter was about two miles (4 kilometers) southeast of Mascot, close to Knoxville. It additionally was felt in components of Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina.
