To the editor: At a second when public belief within the information media is below assault, CBS Information is making a strategic error by shutting down a uniquely trusted nationwide information service with a status for its concise, extremely skilled, fact-based reporting (“CBS News shuts down radio unit amid division-wide cuts,” March 20).

For many years, its top-of-the-hour radio newscasts have delivered real-time information through tons of of affiliated radio stations. These broadcasts should not relics. They continue to be a valued and trusted nationwide service reaching tens of millions of listeners in main metropolitan areas and communities throughout the nation.

Ending this service within the title of modernization isn’t innovation. It’s the disposal of a trusted useful resource that enhances the CBS model.

    This determination deserves reconsideration.

    ..

To the editor: As a local of Los Angeles, I’ve been listening to KNX for greater than 80 years. I learn with deep unhappiness of the upcoming finish of CBS Information Radio, which is broadcast regionally on KNX.

As I look again on the historical past of CBS Information Radio, I vividly recall the distinctive voices of Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Eric Sevareid, Charles Osgood, Marvin Kalb and, extra not too long ago, Deborah Rodriguez and Steve Kathan. For me, these voices represented “the information”: correct, sincere, goal, dependable, calm sources of data wanted by me to stay educated about what was occurring on this planet.

It’s certainly painful for me to think about the world after Might 22, 2026, with out CBS Information Radio.
