    To the editor: Information from the California Trucking Assn. tells us that the overwhelming majority of merchandise made, grown or bought in California journey by truck at some stage of the manufacturing and distribution course of (“California to revoke 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses issued to immigrants,” Nov. 15). Think about the disruptions in commerce — and the worth will increase on all the pieces — from dropping 17,000 truck drivers directly.

    The state ought to delay this financial shock for a 12 months to offer a few of these immigrant drivers an opportunity to attempt to renew their federal work permits and provides the trucking business time to recruit and practice new drivers to fill the remaining hole.
