DUBAI: Egypt stated on Thursday (Mar 13) it appreciated United States President Donald Trump’s remarks on not demanding that residents of Gaza depart the enclave, based on an announcement from the overseas ministry.

“No person is expelling any Palestinians from Gaza,” Trump stated on Wednesday, in response to a query throughout a gathering within the White Home with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.

“This place displays an understanding of the necessity to stop additional deterioration of the humanitarian state of affairs in Gaza and the significance of discovering honest, sustainable options to the Palestinian concern,” the Egyptian overseas ministry added.

Trump had proposed a US takeover of Gaza, the place Israel’s army assault within the final 17 months has killed tens of 1000’s, after earlier suggesting that Palestinians within the enclave must be completely displaced.

Palestinian militant group Hamas carried out a cross-border raid into southern Israel on Oct 7, 2023, triggering the devastating warfare within the Gaza Strip.

Hamas on Wednesday welcomed Trump’s obvious retreat from his proposal for the displacement of Gazans, urging him to chorus from aligning with the imaginative and prescient of the “excessive Zionist proper”.

Earlier in March, Arab leaders adopted a US$53 billion Egyptian reconstruction plan for Gaza that might keep away from displacing Palestinians to counter Trump’s imaginative and prescient of a “Center East Riviera”.
