To the editor: Although our canyon is listed within the lawsuit in opposition to town, most of us dwelling in Beachwood Canyon haven’t any points with guests (“Living near Hollywood sign means cars, diapers, bottles of urine. Neighbors say they’ve had it,” Oct. 28). We’re sympathetic to the issues that our neighbors in Lake Hollywood have been coping with. However the article is one-sided.
I served for 2 years on a Council District 4 committee that labored on the problems of tourists flocking to the realm to get selfies with the well-known Hollywood signal. Ideas corresponding to including bogs and shuttles to hold guests from downtown Hollywood have been actually shouted down by the anti-visitor members of the committee. Their options weren’t actual ones and included gating the neighborhood, permitting solely residents within the space to park on the general public streets and shutting entry to Griffith Park. They even opposed permitting pedestrian entry on the gate on the prime of Beachwood Drive, which might assist to divert among the guests from their space.
A lawsuit can typically take years to resolve. Options that may work should be enacted now, particularly earlier than the Olympics come to L.A. in 2028.
