    2 rescued after Long Island Sound plane crash: Officials

    Two folks had been rescued Sunday morning after a non-public Piper PA-32 airplane they had been aboard crashed into the Lengthy Island Sound close to a Connecticut airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Coast Guard.

    The crash occurred about 10:30 a.m. south of the Tweed New Haven Airport in New Haven, Connecticut, in accordance with the FAA.

    The Coast Guard Station New Haven dispatched a 45-foot boat to the scene after the Sector Lengthy Island Sound Command Heart acquired notification from the air site visitors management tower that the plane went down within the vacinity of the Thimble Islands close to Branford, Connecticut.

    “The 2 individuals onboard the plane had been rescued and in secure situation,” the Coast Guard mentioned in a press release to ABC Information.

    The 2 rescued occupants of the airplane had been taken to the Stony Creek Pier in Branford, the place emergency medical service staff took over their care, in accordance with the Coast Guard.

    The FAA is investigating the incident.
