One individual was killed when two gliders collided in mid-air in upstate New York on Friday afternoon, New York State Police mentioned in an announcement.
Police had been known as to reply to a report of a mid-air collision at round 2:26 p.m. on Friday, the assertion mentioned. Simply over two hours later, police mentioned investigators found particles “in a distant space, off of Sand Lake Street in Edinburg” in Saratoga County.
“Two glider planes collided within the air. One aircraft landed safely on the close by Plateau Sky Ranch Airport, and the pilot was unhurt,” the assertion mentioned.
The pilot of the second aircraft “was the one individual within the plane on the time of the collision” and was “found deceased on the crash website,” police added.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the Nationwide Transportation Security Board had been notified of the incident and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, police mentioned.
