William Byron‘s sizzling begin to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Sequence season continued on Saturday, because the Daytona 500 winner gained the pole for Sunday’s Shriners Kids’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway.

Byron was the one driver to put down a lap below 27 seconds, coming in at a 26.93 to beat Joey Logano for the pole place.

Logano, Carson Hocevar, Josh Berry and Erik Jones rounded out the highest 5, with Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell, Justin Haley, Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin finishing the top-10.

Different notable qualifying efforts embrace Christopher Bell in eleventh, Ryan Blaney in twelfth, Kyle Busch in fifteenth, Kyle Larson in seventeenth and Katherine Legge in thirty seventh.

“I didn’t hit my marks,” Byron instructed Fox Sports activities. “I used to be sideways, I simply carried a ton of entry velocity. I used to be going to decide to the (nook) exits.”

The pole is the 14th of Byron’s Cup Sequence profession and his second at Phoenix. In November 2023, Byron gained the pole for the Cup Sequence championship race. He is going for his second victory of 2025 and his second Phoenix win on Sunday.

The Shriners Kids’s 500 will go inexperienced shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, with protection on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Pre-race protection will start at 2 p.m. ET on FS1 and at 2:30 p.m. ET on MRN.

Bell is the defending winner of the Shriners Kids’s 500, whereas Logano gained the final time the Cup Sequence visited Phoenix in November.
