To the editor: Right here’s a suggestion for Gov. Gavin Newsom and California state legislators if they’re critical about encouraging electrical automobile adoption: Cease cozying as much as the three large personal electrical utilities (“How California plans to boost EVs with no federal help,” Aug. 19). The grid connection charges, wildfire insurance coverage fund charges and different mounted prices tacked onto residential electrical payments are demise by a thousand cuts for the state’s photo voltaic trade and — by extension — EV adoption.

A few of us who went to appreciable expense to place photo voltaic panels on our roofs with expectations that we may gas our EVs with free energy from the solar are studying that’s not a mannequin that the state helps. Some will suppose twice about switching to an EV if Southern California Edison and the state attain into their wallets each time they recharge.
