    US kills Iranian leader of Trump assassination plot, Pentagon says

    WASHINGTON: The US army has killed an Iranian official who headed a unit behind an alleged assassination plot towards US President Donald Trump, the Pentagon introduced on Wednesday (Mar 4).

    The announcement of the unnamed Iranian official’s killing got here throughout an operational replace to the four-day-old war with Iran on the Pentagon.

    US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth touted the killing, which he stated passed off on Tuesday, whilst he confused the Iranian official was not the preliminary focus of the warfare.

    “The chief of the unit who tried to assassinate President Trump has been hunted down and killed. Iran tried to kill President Trump and President Trump received the final snigger,” Hegseth instructed reporters.

    In 2024, the US Justice Division charged an Iranian man in reference to an alleged plot ordered by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps to assassinate Trump, then US president-elect.

    Tehran has denied accusations that it had focused Trump and different US officers.

    Trump cited the alleged Iranian plot when he spoke on Sunday a few joint US-Israeli operation that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying to ABC Information: “I received him earlier than he received me.”

    Hegseth, nevertheless, stated Trump by no means talked about the hassle to trace down the chief of the Iranian unit behind the plot as a precedence for the Pentagon.
