The U.S. navy carried out an extra spherical of what it referred to as “large-scale strikes” in opposition to a number of ISIS targets in Syria — in response to an assault final month that killed three Americans.

U.S. Central Command introduced the retaliatory airstrikes in a information launch.

CENTCOM stated the strikes have been carried out at about 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday and concerned U.S. allies, although they weren’t named.

The first retaliatory strike on Dec. 19 referred to as “Operation Hawkeye Strike” was carried out by the U.S. and Jordan.

Since that strike the U.S. navy has continued to hold out extra raids focusing on ISIS.

The strikes in Syria are available in retaliation for the deaths on Dec. 13 of two American troopers and a U.S. civilian interpreter in Palmyra, Syria, by what CENTCOM stated was a lone ISIS gunman who was later killed.

“The strikes at this time focused ISIS all through Syria as a part of our ongoing dedication to root out Islamic terrorism in opposition to our warfighters, stop future assaults, and defend American and companion forces within the area,” CENTCOM stated within the information launch. “U.S. and coalition forces stay resolute in pursuing terrorists who search to hurt the USA.”
