    Türkiye seeks to host next COP as co-presidency plans falter

    If no consensus is reached, the summit would revert to Bonn, the German metropolis that hosts the UN’s local weather secretariat.

    The Turkish supply mentioned discussions with Australia on the UN Common Meeting’s annual conferences in September yielded preliminary proposals for joint administration of the occasion and shared high-level conferences.

    However a letter from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan rejected the agreements, citing UN guidelines towards joint internet hosting and considerations about diverting COP’s Pacific-focused agenda, the supply mentioned. 

    Ankara helps creating versatile preparations by good-faith consultations to make sure the success of COP31, the supply mentioned.
