    WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump stated on Monday (Nov 10) that the US was getting near reaching a cope with India that will increase financial and safety ties between the 2 international locations, increase US power exports and promote investments in key US sectors.

    “We’re getting a good deal, only a truthful commerce deal,” Trump informed reporters within the Oval Workplace on the swearing-in of his envoy to India, Sergio Gor. 

    “We’re making a cope with India, a lot completely different deal than we had up to now.”

    Trump repeated his optimism {that a} deal was close to, including: “We’re getting shut.”

    Relations between the world’s two largest democracies have plummeted in latest months over tariffs, negotiations for a commerce deal and coverage modifications like an annual US$100,000 fee for H-1B skilled worker visas.

    Trump has raised stress on India, which for many years had been courted by US policymakers of each events as a counterweight to China.

    The US president imposed among the heftiest tariffs on the planet on India, punishing it for purchasing Russian oil, which Washington says helps finance Moscow’s conflict in Ukraine.
