    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump plans to introduce a brand new US$100,000 utility charge for H-1B employee visas as a part of his broader immigration crackdown, Bloomberg Information reported on Friday (Sep 19).

    Bloomberg cited a White Home official aware of the matter. Reuters couldn’t instantly confirm the report.

    Based on the report, Trump was anticipated to signal a proclamation as early as Friday limiting entry below the H-1B programme until the applying charge is paid. He additionally deliberate to order adjustments to prevailing wage ranges for H-1B visas to additional restrict their use.

    IMPACT ON TECH SECTOR

    The H-1B programme is extensively utilized by know-how and staffing firms to fill specialised technical roles. Amazon had greater than 10,000 H-1B visas accepted in 2025, whereas Microsoft and Meta Platforms every had over 5,000 approvals, in line with US Citizenship and Immigration Providers.
