To the editor: The refusal of Home Speaker Mike Johnson to swear in a duly elected consultant in Adelita Grijalva is outrageous in its personal proper (“She won a landslide election. But Trump and Jeffrey Epstein have her stuck in limbo,” Oct. 12). However his excuse — that the Home just isn’t in session and due to this fact he can’t swear her in throughout a professional forma session — makes it even worse, for the reason that similar speaker and the identical Home swore in two specifically elected representatives throughout professional forma periods earlier this 12 months. I’m positive the truth that the 2 specifically elected representatives had been Republican whereas Rep. Grijalva is a Democrat has nothing to do with the problem.
The silver lining in all of that is that 4 Home Republicans have joined 200 Democrats in a petition to launch the Jeffrey Epstein data/paperwork. The braveness of those 4 Republicans to defy President Trump offers a glimmer of hope to these of us who worth democracy.
