    Russia has proposed deepening navy, safety, commerce and nuclear ties with Indonesia, which has the world’s fourth-largest inhabitants.

    Prabowo beforehand visited Russia in August 2024, when he was defence minister and president-elect, and described Moscow as a “nice pal”, saying he hoped for stronger cooperation on defence, power and schooling.

    Indonesia has stated that it needs to construct its first nuclear energy plant by 2032, with 500MW capability, aiming for it to come back on-line within the subsequent decade. Authorities stated builders included Russia’s Rosatom, China CNNC, and US small modular reactor producer NuScale.

    Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest financial system, presently depends totally on coal as a supply of energy regardless of boasting large potential for renewable power sources comparable to hydro, photo voltaic and geothermal.

    With expectations of excessive power demand sooner or later, Indonesia is in search of to spice up energy era capability whereas capping its carbon emissions, eyeing nuclear energy as the answer.
