KYIV: Ukraine imposed nationwide rolling energy cuts for a second consecutive day on Thursday (Oct 16) as Russia intensified attacks on the country’s energy network amid falling temperatures, the nationwide grid operator stated.
Russian forces struck fuel services in jap Ukraine, inflicting widespread disruption in what Kyiv described as Moscow’s newest large-scale winter bombardment of its power infrastructure.
“As a result of difficult scenario within the power system, emergency energy outages have been applied in all areas of Ukraine,” state electrical energy operator Ukrenergo stated. The rolling cuts are designed to ration electrical energy, with authorities urging residents to cut back consumption.
AFP reporters in Kharkiv stated total districts had been plunged into darkness, with outlets working on turbines.
RUSSIA LAUNCHES MASS STRIKES
Russia’s military stated it launched a “huge strike” utilizing ballistic missiles and drones on Ukrainian fuel websites.
