    LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A police officer was killed and one other was critically wounded Sunday in a shootout at a lodge in suburban Atlanta.

    Gwinnett County police stated in an announcement that gunfire broke out early Sunday after two officers have been dispatched on a name reporting fraud on the handle of a lodge close to Stone Mountain, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta.

    When the officers arrived, police stated, they encountered an individual who drew a gun and shot each officers. The officers returned hearth, wounding the suspect. One of many officers was killed, the police assertion stated, and the opposite was hospitalized Sunday in essential however secure situation.
