    The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature to Hungarian novelist and screenwriter László Krasznahorkai.

    Identified for his philosophical, bleakly humorous novels, Krasznahorkai, 71, is the 122nd laureate to win the award.

    He was recognised “for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, within the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the ability of artwork”.

    A number of of Krasznahorkai’s works, together with his debut, “Satantango” and “The Melancholy of Resistance,” had been became movies by Hungarian director Bela Tarr.

    In successful the award, he joins an illustrious listing of laureates that features Toni Morrison, Ernest Hemingway and Kazuo Ishiguro.

    Final 12 months, the award went to South Korean creator Han Kang, who was praised “for her intense poetic prose that confronts historic traumas and exposes the fragility of human life”. Han was the primary South Korean author and 18th lady to win the Nobel Literature Prize.
