    MINNEAPOLIS — Former Minnesota Home Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, who have been gunned down earlier this month in what authorities say was a politically motivated killing, will lie in state within the state Capitol Rotunda on Friday, a day forward of their funeral, Gov. Tim Walz introduced Tuesday.

    Hortman would be the first lady and certainly one of fewer than 20 Minnesotans accorded the consideration.

    The Hortmans have been shot to dying of their residence within the northern Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Park early June 14. Earlier than that, authorities say, the gunman wounded one other Democrat, Sen. John Hoffman, and his spouse, Yvette, who lived a number of miles away in Champlin.
