    Major road crash leaves 18 dead, 3 injured in northeast Egypt | Transport News

    A collision between a truck and a passenger pick-up in Egypt’s northeastern Port Stated province has left 18 individuals useless, principally fishermen, and three others injured, in line with stories.

    The crash at roughly 12:30pm native time (10:30 GMT) on Thursday occurred on the 30 June Axis freeway, to the south of Port Stated, in line with Egypt’s state-run Al-Ahram newspaper.

    Survivors of the collision are being handled in hospital, and public prosecutors have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, in line with Al-Ahram.

    Photographs from the scene of the accident posted on-line confirmed the aftermath of the crash, with a pick-up truck crushed between two giant cargo vans and particles scattered throughout the highway, The Related Press (AP) information company stories.

    AP mentioned the pick-up truck was transporting fishermen to work at fish farms within the coastal Port Stated space.

    Attending the inaugural assembly of United States President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace in Washington, DC, on Thursday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly despatched his condolences to the victims of the collision and ordered that monetary help be supplied to family members of the deceased and injured.

    Madbouly mentioned in an announcement posted on Fb that he was following up on the incident via stories from the governor of Port Stated province.

    Lethal highway accidents are widespread on Egypt’s roads and declare hundreds of lives every year in crashes usually involving microbuses and heavy vans. Dashing, poor highway situations, and lax enforcement of site visitors legal guidelines have been cited as contributing components in collisions.

    In June final yr, a truck collided with a minibus, killing 19 individuals, most of them teenage women, in line with native officers.
