Barrot warned that Russia should settle for a ceasefire or face “new sanctions that may exhaust its economic system”, alongside intensified European help for Ukraine. He added that Macron and Zelenskyy have been in frequent contact, with the Ukrainian chief final visiting Paris on Nov 17.
The talks will happen as Zelenskyy manages political turbulence at house after dismissing his influential chief of employees Andriy Yermak following a serious anti-corruption raid.
Regardless of the upheaval, Barrot mentioned Zelenskyy retains “full legitimacy to steer Ukraine in direction of peace.”
The warfare, now in its fourth yr, started after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
