To the editor: I by no means thought I’d be irritated at each Lin-Manuel Miranda and Donald Trump on the similar time, however I’m (“‘Hamilton’ cancels Kennedy Center run after Trump takeover,” March 5). By canceling the run of his masterpiece, “Hamilton,” scheduled to open subsequent March at Lincoln Middle, Miranda’s conduct suggests that he’s succumbing to the very factor he protests: the politicization of the humanities. I wish to assume Miranda might rise above such pettiness, and never deprive his viewers of having fun with his wealthy historic opera in particular person.

To the editor: “Hamilton’s” creator sanctimoniously is quoted as saying, “The Kennedy Middle has lengthy been a creative heart devoid of a political perspective …” Throughout one of many first performances of “Hamilton,” Brandon Victor Dixon, who performed Aaron Burr, disrespectfully upbraided Vice President Mike Pence in attendance by saying to him from the stage:
“We, sir — we — are the various America who’re alarmed and anxious that your new administration is not going to shield us, our planet, our youngsters, our dad and mom, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We actually hope that this present has impressed you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
I used to be shocked {that a} U.S vp could be handled disrespectfully. Devoid of a political perspective? Give me a break.

To the editor: Bravo and a standing ovation to the solid and crew of “Hamilton” for canceling their Kennedy Middle look. No artist from any self-discipline ought to settle for, attend or carry out on the Kennedy Middle, as long as the man-who-would-be-king presides over its board.
John F. Kennedy stated, “If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.” Trump and his ilk are the very antithesis of this reality. However, in fact, we already [know] about Trump’s relationship with the reality.
