To the editor: Columnists Anita Chabria and Steve Lopez are talking reality to the lies which can be the muse of the logic the president is utilizing to justify his invasion of Los Angeles (“Newsom’s ‘Democracy is under assault’ speech could turn the tables on Trump,” June 11; “Why this overheated invasion of L.A. looks so ugly and feels so personal,” June 9).
George Orwell wrote, “Don’t you see that the entire purpose of Newspeak is to slim the vary of thought?”
It’s no shock that the president, his administration and their Republican cohort scale back what they name “information conferences” to slim prevarications, just like the lies in regards to the invasion and burning of Los Angeles and, by affiliation, the entire of California. Just like the lies in regards to the prison character of what an immigrant is. Just like the try and eradicate the best to protest. Just like the lies that troopers are placing out the fires (of President Trump’s personal making). Just like the lie that merely asking a query is un-American. Just like the lie that on a regular basis actions (taking your daughter to high school or going to work) will not be a part of the American cloth.
An affordable vocabulary for native English audio system is 20,000 to 35,000 phrases. Trump seemingly has possibly one-tenth of that quantity. Speaking his ideas, concepts and plans is straightforward for him. Simply repeat his lies as typically and as merely as attainable.
As Chabria factors out, our leaders, like Gov. Gavin Newsom, set the pathway; as Lopez writes, our neighbors set the instance. We should comply with. Your journalism helps People see via Trump’s try and slim our pondering.
