To the editor: Going together with contributing author Josh Hammer’s A-average evaluation (“Report card on Trump’s first six months shows a lot of wins, a little room for growth,” July 25), I supply these additions:

Making certain the rise of financial inequality on this nation: A+. With President Trump’s manipulation of tariffs and taxes, American billionaires will get even richer and common residents will wrestle to purchase groceries and pay for medical care, by no means thoughts properties.

Protecting our worldwide allies guessing: A+. Will now we have any allies left in three years?

Creating havoc and instability in cities with a big immigrant inhabitants: A+. So what if round 70% of these swept up in Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have no criminal convictions? Not less than we acquired the opposite 30%.

Denigrating as many opposition voices as doable: A+. Assault universities, defund public broadcasting, prohibit range, fairness and inclusion, limit voting rights, ban books, sue journalists and disable help for schooling in any respect ranges.

Disregard for future generations and the results of local weather change: A+. Roll again restrictions on fossil gas and disable help for renewable power assets. Lower workers defending our nationwide parks.

Ruling with intimidation and threats: A+. Exhibit A: Jan. 6, 2021. Exhibit B: Some Republican lawmakers are OK with Exhibit A.

Breaking with American traditions and founding ideas: A+. Who wants three branches of presidency anyway when you could have a genius on the reins? Structure? Oh, that outdated factor?

Normalizing unethical conduct, name-calling and blatant mendacity coming from the president of america: A+++. Gotta give it to him: He actually is a genius at this.

To the editor: Economic system: The inventory market’s up, however greater than 60,000 tech workers have been laid off, tourism’s down $29 billion and tariffs are crushing small companies. “Historic” commerce offers are repairs lined in flattery for Trump’s personal mess. Grade: D.

Home coverage: His speaking factors don’t make America safer, more healthy or smarter. Grade: C-.

Immigration: Deportations are down, however cruelty is up — snatching residents, authorized residents and folks already within the system. Nothing about this makes us safer. Grade: F.

Legislation: These “ludicrous” injunctions from decrease courts are extra reasoned than the Supreme Courtroom’s shadow docket rulings. Grade: C.

International coverage: Aiding ethnic cleaning in Gaza isn’t “rewarding associates.” Delaying Iran’s program (possibly solely by months) isn’t security. Grade: C.

    ..

To the editor: On my grading scale, Trump will get an F for empathy, an F for honesty and an F for simply plain human decency. And clearly, he doesn’t play properly with others.
