To the editor: Considered one of your letter writers mentioned the names of dogs recently killed in local shelters. Landlords and rental firms are serving to to kill the these animals in our underfunded shelters.
For instance, at a rental unit marketed as “pet pleasant,” we had been instructed that our two cats would price us a surcharge of $70 per cat, per 30 days. For canine, the surcharge was $85.

Since there is no such thing as a regulation stopping such gouging, the landlords fill their pockets whereas deserving shelter animals that may be stored or adopted are killed on the taxpayers’ expense.
The slaughter of those harmless animals should cease.
