To the editor: Workers author Terry Castleman asserts that “Californians may very well be liable for a good portion of the decline in Vegas tourism” (“Las Vegas is down on its luck as tourism drops. Why it’s kind of California’s fault,” Aug. 4). Though this can be true, the article doesn’t go into different components as to why tourism in Las Vegas has considerably declined.

Earlier than tourism in Vegas decreased, its bills had been already excessive, from quick meals combo meals costing a minimum of $30 to cocktails pricing at $25, to not point out the everyday value of a lodge room being greater than $160 per night time. With Californians coping with our personal financial struggles, Vegas is simply approach too costly to trip to, which is also a serious motive for Vegas tourism declining.

To the editor: Castleman’s article on tourism being down in Las Vegas ought to be a wake-up name to and a chance for California. We all know that the world is not enamored with President Trump.

However we nonetheless want tourism, so let’s set ourselves aside from Trump’s America. All vacationers to California ought to get an across-the-board 10% discount on lodge rooms, meals, ride-share companies and tickets to museums and theme parks. Let’s put the welcome mat out to the world.
