To the editor: Thanks for working the piece by visitor contributor Bedassa Tadesse concerning the important position that immigrants play in healthcare (“U.S. needs immigrants to sustain the healthcare workforce,” Dec. 17). As an octogenarian who’s had a number of joint replacements, with a consequent want for time in a rehab, I’ve been struck by how a lot I owe to immigrants and the way arduous they work. In some cases, employees have been required to place in 16-hour days with the intention to maintain a facility staffed. The very last thing we have to do is to create a hostile setting for them.

It’s crucial to repair the system in order that labor drive wants may be met and other people can really feel safe as they go about their day by day lives.
