    Dirk Nowitzki was compelled to ‘support’ Luka Doncic after trade

    Dirk Nowitzki will ceaselessly be a Dallas Maverick, however his loyalty was examined when the franchise traded Luka Doncic earlier this month. 

    The Corridor of Famer went out of his option to attend a Lakers residence sport to help Doncic, whom he mentored for years in Dallas. The optics of Nowitzki attending a Lakers sport was interpreted as him sending a message to the Mavs, expressing unhappiness over the commerce.

    In a latest interview, Nowitzki defined why he felt compelled to “help” Doncic throughout a turbulent time. He revealed that he was vacationing along with his household within the Maldives when he heard the information, which prompted him to succeed in out to Doncic. 

    “I felt a bit of disillusioned and unhappy for him,” Nowitzki told 96.7 The Ticket. “…He is a very good child, so I felt like I needed to go on the market and help him on this new chapter. It was reported that he was fairly down and disillusioned the way it went down, so I needed to be there for him. I needed to be there for his household and present help. You guys noticed my face, it was bizarre. It was surreal to see him play for the Lakers.”

    The 2007 NBA MVP mentioned he’ll “by no means be a Lakers fan” however will “at all times be a Luka fan” no matter the place the Slovenian performs. 

    Doncic had thanked Nowitzki for his form gesture of flying to Los Angeles to observe his debut towards the Jazz.
