To the editor: Nowhere in The Instances’ in any other case good report on the proposed funding cuts to the California State University system is there any point out of the variety of lately added directors or their salaries.

Many cuts shall be made to college who truly train topics. What number of vice presidents, assistant or affiliate deans and assistant or affiliate provosts train lessons? Only a few.

The chancellor’s base wage is almost $800,000 (she receives extra in housing allowances and deferred compensation). The bottom salaries of the 23 campus presidents vary from round $300,000 to almost $600,000 every. CSU can’t perform with out school, however I at all times thought it might do completely nicely with out most of what has turn into a bloated administration.

    Margo Kasdan, Seal Seashore

The author is a professor emerita at San Francisco State College.

    ..

To the editor: I’m horrified that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration continues to suggest devastating cuts to CSU. College students shall be unable to finish needed coursework, gifted school shall be laid off, potential college students will flip to different faculties, and devoted workers shall be let go.

That is each pointless and silly — pointless as a result of the state has $17 billion extra in income than deliberate that might offset these cuts, and silly as a result of training is likely one of the few state providers that generates income over time. Educated staff pay extra in revenue taxes, and for each greenback a state spends on training, it collects two {dollars} in taxes.

Let’s hope Newsom sees the sunshine and reverses course on this misguided proposal.
