To the editor: It was very fascinating to see the interplay between Gov. Gavin Newsom and President Trump after the president’s visit on Friday to see the Palisades fire damage.
Lengthy an enormous fan of the governor, I’ve admired his energy and activism since his first time period. I bear in mind how resolute he was through the COVID-19 disaster and the way he wasted no time making choices to guard his state and its residents. Additionally, it even appeared that Trump generally deferred to Newsom’s suggestions relating to the pandemic.
I understand that there isn’t a love misplaced between Trump and Newsom. However for the sake of the residents of California, notably in and round Los Angeles, it was surprisingly heartwarming to be taught that the 2 shared a heat embrace and teased one another upon the president’s arrival.
Neither man is one to again away from a battle nor more likely to change his opinion of the opposite, however it’s attainable that they admire one another’s tenacity.

To the editor: Why are we Californians, the most important contributor to our federal tax coffers, having to beg for the very {dollars} we contributed to offer emergency assist to our personal residents?
Democrats should play the political recreation by the MAGA guidelines now being employed. Typical guidelines now not work as a result of they now not exist. Democrats are following a path that leads nowhere.
Emergency assist is for speedy wants. We mustn’t negotiate ranges of care and struggling. We should withhold our federal tax contributions and assist our personal residents first, earlier than any extortion makes an attempt.
Let MAGA sue us. That can take time winding by the courts. At the least we may have cared for our residents.

To the editor: An enormous thank-you to Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) for standing as much as Trump on the assembly held in response to the horrific fires skilled by the residents of Pacific Palisades and Altadena.
The others on the assembly largely tried to flatter him, however Sherman didn’t.
