    BUENOS AIRES: Argentina will pull out of the World Well being Group (WHO), a presidential spokesperson mentioned on Wednesday (Feb 5), following President Donald Trump’s govt order final month to tug the US out of the worldwide well being group.

    Trump, who Argentina’s libertarian President Javier Milei considers a detailed ally, moved to exit the organisation on his first day in workplace on Jan 20.

    Milei ordered Argentina’s withdrawal due to “deep variations” relating to the WHO’s administration of well being points, notably the COVID-19 pandemic, presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni mentioned, citing Argentina’s months-long lockdown underneath the earlier leftist authorities.

    Adorni additionally cited “a scarcity of independence from the political affect of different states”.

    Trump equally claimed the worldwide well being company had mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic and different worldwide well being crises, and that it required “unfairly onerous” funds from the US, its greatest funder.
