    Penn State student shot dead near his home in Philadelphia, police say

    Officers at Penn State College mentioned they’re “heartbroken” after a pupil was shot and killed about one block from his dwelling in Philadelphia.

    William Schmidt, 22, was shot at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday and officers discovered him mendacity within the street with a gunshot wound to his chest, based on Philadelphia police.

    Schmidt was taken to a hospital the place he was pronounced lifeless at 1:47 a.m., police mentioned.

    Schmidt was learning digital journalism and media at Penn State World Campus, the college mentioned.

    “We’re heartbroken over the tragic dying of William Schmidt, and we share our deepest condolences together with his household and buddies,” a Penn State spokesperson mentioned in an announcement.
