SEOUL — The South Korean navy detected a projectile fired from North Korea that was suspected to be a medium-range ballistic missile, in accordance with the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Employees.

The missile was fired from the world surrounding Pyongyang, the capital, towards the East Sea at about midday on Monday, the joint chiefs stated.

The joint chiefs stated the South Korean navy has heightened surveillance for extra launches and is sustaining a readiness posture for sharing ballistic-missile-related information with the U.S. and Japan.

The final time North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile was Nov. 5, simply earlier than the U.S. presidential election.
