    2 US service members missing in Morocco during multinational military exercise

    Two U.S. service members are lacking after collaborating in a multinational coaching train in Morocco, in line with an announcement Sunday from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).

    The service members had been collaborating within the annual African Lion train within the North African nation after they had been “reported lacking close to the Cap Draa Coaching Space, close to the town of Tan-Tan” on Saturday, in line with the AFRICOM assertion.

    A U.S. official advised ABC Information that each troopers are with the Military and had been on a hike when they’re believed to have fallen from a cliff and into the ocean. There isn’t a indication of foul play, the official stated.

    “U.S., Moroccan and different belongings from African Lion instantly initiated coordinated search and rescue operations, together with floor, air, and maritime belongings,” the AFRICOM assertion stated, including that the incident is beneath investigation and the seek for the lacking service members is ongoing.

    Along with U.S. and Moroccan helicopters, drones and naval vessels, Moroccan mountaineers and divers are additionally helping within the search, the U.S. official advised ABC Information.

    African Lion is a serious annual train involving roughly 5,000 troops and personnel from some 40 nations, together with the U.S., Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia, according to AFRICOM.
