The incident occurred on the Yamuna river within the city of Mathura.

“To this point, 10 our bodies have been recovered,” senior police officer Shailesh Kumar Pandey informed reporters.

The vessel was carrying 27 passengers when it overturned. It was not initially clear how many individuals had been lacking.

Rescuers from the fireplace division and divers had been deployed to look for individuals who remained lacking.

Extra groups from the Nationwide Catastrophe Response Drive had been additionally dashing to the scene to help in rescue efforts.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi supplied condolences, saying he was “deeply pained” by the tragedy and wished the injured a speedy restoration.

“The native administration is helping these affected,” he stated in a press release on social media.
