    Supreme Court vacates Steve Bannon contempt-of-Congress charges

    The Supreme Courtroom on Monday vacated contempt-of-Congress expenses towards ex-Trump advisor Steve Bannon, who had refused to honor a subpoena from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 , 2021, assault, and later served a four-month sentence. 

    The Courtroom didn’t clarify its choice. There have been no famous dissents. 

    In a quick order, the Courtroom famous that the Trump Justice Division has moved to drop the indictment towards Bannon and returned the case to a decrease court docket for dismissal.

    Bannon, who served as President Donald Trump’s chief White Home strategist throughout Trump’s first time period, served a four-month prison term after being discovered responsible on contempt expenses following a July 2022 trial.

    A jury found Bannon guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena to testify about Jan. 6 earlier than the Home choose committee that investigated the assault. Along with serving jail time, Bannon paid a $6,500 high quality.
