To the editor: I journey Class 1 e-bikes on the seaside bike path most weekends (“Electric bikes can be fast and dangerous. Here’s how to stay safe,” April 1). I put on a helmet, use entrance and tail lamps and regulate my pace to match circumstances.

Too typically, nevertheless, I’m handed by riders going far too quick, generally filming with one hand on a cellphone and never sporting helmets. The bike path is a shared leisure house the place youngsters dart throughout, canines wander, volleyballs roll by and pedestrians cross with out wanting.

Merely discussing the difficulty isn’t sufficient. I not often see any enforcement of present security guidelines. Clear enforcement, together with warnings and fines, would go a great distance towards making a safer and extra cohesive surroundings for everybody.
