To the editor: My husband and I journey the Metro usually when visiting L.A. from Upland. We stopped doing it at one level as a result of it had turn out to be only a nasty journey. Vehicles had been soiled, full of individuals who make one really feel uncomfortable. The stations had little, if any, safety.

Because the article says, that has undoubtedly modified (“A rebuttal to L.A.’s long hate-affair with public transit,” March 26). There may be now a variety of useful safety and automobiles are cleaner and safer. I’m 73 and I might really feel secure driving on my own and with girlfriends — that claims rather a lot.

If solely Union Station might do one thing in regards to the restrooms. They’re filthy. It’s not a reasonably sight to start out your day with. I’ve written to the mayor and Union Station administration, however nobody cares to reply.

Nevertheless it’s so good to see different enhancements in making the Metro cleaner and safer.

    Kathy Stecher, Upland

To the editor: Employees author James Rainey stated his one-time Metro journey on a Sunday in the course of the day made him a believer within the transit system. Had he pushed downtown from South Pasadena on that Sunday on the identical time, would he be touting the convenience and comfort of the freeway system?

Rainey says he can be driving the rails once more to satisfy pals downtown for a drink on the finish of the work week. Will he do a follow-up story on that weeknight tour, and can he nonetheless have the identical glowing overview?
