To the editor: The authors of this op-ed would do properly to speak with the individuals in command of L.A. County zoning (“Building a more beautiful L.A. in an age of ugliness,” March 11). The very design options they criticize — setbacks, pop-outs, jagged roof strains and aircraft modifications — are all among the many architectural design options from which I’m required to pick for allow approval on my newest constructing challenge.

I personally favor our present white containers over the dreary flats from a long time previous, and the authors’ solely model suggestions are for extra stone and tile on the facades. Is the market keen to pay for these upgrades? I misplaced appreciable out-of-pocket cash constructing white containers final time. So no extra design necessities, please, if we want to help, not hinder, our housing objectives.
