Newsom should look to Californians to improve state’s image

To the editor: Studying about Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed $19-million marketing campaign to shine California’s nationwide picture made me shake my head (“Newsom planning $19-million push to polish California’s national image,” March 6).

Why spend that sort of cash on advertising when tens of millions of Californians already love this state and will present it way more authentically? Take a web page from KCRW’s “Why I Love L.A.” Invite Californians to make use of their telephones to share quick movies of their favourite locations and why they love residing right here. You’d get an actual portrait of California — its magnificence, range and on a regular basis magic — with out spending tens of millions on a shiny marketing campaign.

I’d gladly volunteer to begin with Los Angeles. Then take the $19 million saved and begin fixing our roads.
