KANSAS CITY — Parts of Kansas Metropolis Worldwide Airport have been being evacuated Sunday afternoon as authorities appeared into a possible risk, the Kansas Metropolis Aviation Division mentioned.
Airport spokesperson Jackson Overstreet mentioned in an e mail that the risk was first reported at 11:15 a.m. native time and the complete terminal was evacuated. He mentioned flights which have landed since then have been being held on the taxiway.
FBI spokesperson Dixon Land mentioned in an e mail to The Related Press that the “FBI is conscious of the incident and our personnel are working with airport and legislation enforcement officers to find out the credibility of the risk.”
Logan Hawley, 29, mentioned he was ready to board a flight to Texas when he observed a swarm of police and K9 items contained in the terminal.
“All of a sudden there was an airport employee saying ‘instantly evacuate,’ individuals acquired up quick and rushed out of there,” Hawley mentioned.
The group of roughly 2,000 individuals have been ushered onto the tarmac.
