    Iran foreign minister met IAEA chief ahead of nuclear talks

    Iran has repeatedly threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation in opposition to any assault, which might choke a fifth of world oil flows and ship crude costs sharply increased.

    The waterway connects the largest Gulf oil producers, similar to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

    Iran‘s Revolutionary Guards have carried out a drill named “Good Management of the Strait of Hormuz”, to check the readiness of the guards’ naval items to guard the waterway, the semi-official Tasnim information company stated on Monday.

    “Intelligently utilising the geopolitical benefits of the Islamic Republic within the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are among the many most important targets of this train,” Tasnim stated.

    Iran‘s civil defence organisation held a chemical defence drill within the Pars Particular Financial Power Zone on Monday to strengthen preparedness for potential chemical incidents within the vitality hub positioned in southern Iran.

    Deputy Overseas Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi on Sunday signalled Iran‘s readiness to compromise on its nuclear programme in return for sanctions reduction, telling the BBC that the ball was “in America’s courtroom to show that they need to do a deal.”

    Previous to the US becoming a member of Israel in placing Iranian nuclear websites in June, Iran-US nuclear talks had stalled over Washington’s demand that Tehran forgo enrichment on its soil, which the US views as a pathway to an Iranian nuclear weapon.

    Iran says its nuclear programme is solely for civilian functions and is able to assuage considerations relating to nuclear weapons by “constructing belief that enrichment is and can keep for peaceable functions.”

    Iran‘s Overseas Ministry stated Araqchi had mentioned cooperation with the Worldwide Atomic Power Company, in addition to Tehran’s technical standpoint relating to nuclear talks with the US throughout his assembly with IAEA head Rafael Grossi.
