    Justice Department sues Harvard over alleged withholding of race-related admissions documents

    The Justice Division has filed a lawsuit towards Harvard College, accusing the college of withholding admissions knowledge that the federal government says it wants to find out whether or not the college is discriminating on the premise of race.

    That is the latest of the Trump administration’s actions towards Harvard. It comes months after the federal government tried to cut all federal funding to the college and tried to block its ability to enroll worldwide college students over its dealing with of protests on campus. Federal judges blocked each efforts however the Trump administration has appealed the funding determination.

    The lawsuit, filed in Massachusetts District Court docket on Thursday, alleges that Harvard is “not complying with a federal investigation,” the lawsuit stated.

    The DOJ stated it brings this “civil motion solely to compel Harvard to provide paperwork regarding any consideration of race in admission.     Representatives for Harvard College didn’t instantly reply to ABC Information’ request for remark.

    Harvard has beforehand condemned the administration’s actions towards it as “unprecedented” and “retaliatory,” claiming the administration “has an illegal anti-Harvard coverage,” in line with statements and arguments made in courtroom.
