It’s good that citizens are taking a stand, but more is needed

To the editor: I took encouragement, personally, from columnist Steve Lopez’s current piece (“How do you stand up to lies and brutality? Maybe you blow a whistle, for starters,” Feb. 5). It’s reassuring to know what a person can do to withstand a bully. One other factor is to make use of the vote to do away with President Trump’s pathetic help in all ranges of presidency, voting out these individuals elected to guard us who don’t.

However, greater than will be achieved individually, a lot bigger efforts have to happen. And it’s these elected officers who have to make a “blow” aimed toward Trump’s raids, and way more. I’m speaking about all of it: the Arc de Trump he needs constructed, his threats to dam the Canadian opening of the Gordie Howe Worldwide Bridge and all of the negotiation-by-force nonsense he tries.

So, sure. Get a whistle and blow!

    James Severtson, Reseda
