DUBLIN: A Ryanair flight certain for the Austrian capital Vienna needed to land within the neighbouring Czech Republic late on Monday (Dec 30) after encountering GPS issues and poor visibility, the corporate stated.

The Irish airline was responding to an Austrian media report that the flight from Riga had diverted to the Czech metropolis of Brno as a result of the GPS sign was disrupted over Poland as a result of conflict in Ukraine.

Newspaper Die Presse stated this was the message relayed to passengers by the captain of the flight, which landed safely in Brno. The passengers have been then taken to Vienna by bus, Ryanair stated.

“Flight FR748 from Riga to Vienna yesterday Mon 30 Dec diverted to Brno as a result of a minor tech concern with the GPS system mixed with low visibility (fog) at Vienna,” Ryanair stated in a press release, which didn’t point out the reviews of GPS jamming.

The flight was an Airbus A320 working beneath the Lauda model, in response to the Flightradar monitoring web site.
