To the editor: María Corina Machado’s determined try to hunt favor with President Trump by delivering her Nobel Peace Prize to him demeans the award itself and people who voted for her to obtain it (“Venezuela opposition leader Machado says she ‘presented’ her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump,” Jan. 15). Trump demeans himself for being so hungry for an accolade that he was prepared to take possession of an award from its righteous recipient.

    Barry S. Rubin, Beverly Hills

    ..

To the editor: It is a cringe-worthy instance of a lady attempting to appease a person with a fragile ego to achieve his favor. If Machado desires to guide Venezuela, she wants to face up and act like a pacesetter.

    Kathryn Smith, Pasadena
