KYIV: Ukraine’s navy accused Russia of deliberately attacking a civilian Turkish vessel carrying sunflower oil to Egypt with a drone on Saturday (Dec 13), a day after Moscow hit two Ukrainian ports.

In an announcement on Telegram, the navy mentioned the vessel, referred to as the Viva, had 11 Turkish residents on board. It added that no one was harm and the vessel was persevering with its journey to Egypt.

“The strike was carried out within the open sea in Ukraine’s unique financial zone, exterior the vary of Ukrainian air defence techniques,” the assertion mentioned, accusing Russia of breaching maritime legal guidelines.

The navy mentioned it was in touch with the ship’s captain.

On Friday, Russia attacked two Ukrainian ports, damaging three Turkish-owned vessels, in response to Ukraine’s navy. A big fireplace broke out on a kind of ships.

The assaults come after Moscow threatened to “reduce Ukraine off from the ocean” after Kyiv’s assaults broken three ‘shadow fleet’ tankers heading to Russia to export its oil.
