    Russia outlaws Human Rights Watch as crackdown on dissent continues

    The Russian authorities Friday outlawed Human Rights Watch as an “undesirable group,” a label that beneath a 2015 regulation makes involvement with such organizations a prison offense.

    The designation means the worldwide human rights group should cease all work in Russia, and opens those that cooperate with or assist the group to prosecution.
